Title: Understanding Trump’s Trade Policies: A Conversation with Bob Lighthizer

On Wednesday, April 23, as part of the Institute of Politics and Public Service’s partnership with the Brunswick Group, GU Politics was proud to co-host an engaging conversation on the future of American trade policy.

Ambassador Robert Lighthizer, former U.S. Trade Representative, a chief architect of President Trump’s trade agenda, and a Fall 2021 GU Politics Fellow,  joined Brunswick Senior Advisor Christopher Padilla for a timely and wide-ranging discussion on the motivations behind the administration’s tariff strategy, its global ripple effects, and what it may signal for the next phase of U.S. trade policy.

This event marked the fifth and final installment in our partnership series, which brought together top political voices including Chris LaCivita, Senior Advisor to President Trump’s 2024 campaign; Jen O’Malley Dillon, Chair of former Vice President Kamala Harris’ 2024 campaign; Former U.S. Senator Doug Jones; and Jonathan Swan, national political reporter at The New York Times.
