Moderated by GU Politics Executive Director Mo Elleithee, RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel made a direct case to Georgetown students and millennials on the benefits of the Republican Party for their generation. Noting the event’s co-sponsors, the University’s College Republicans chapter, she stressed that the party must “start showing up and bringing that conversation to campuses, because maybe you’re a Republican and you don’t know it. Maybe you’ve never thought about it. Maybe there are things you think about the Republican Party that aren’t right.”
Acknowledging the continuing dominance of progressive voices on campuses across the US, she hoped that young Republican students and party organizers alike would start to shift the balance, creating spaces for conservative voices to share and flourish together. Summarizing her points, McDaniel said, “Any time somebody is feeling like they cannot speak and they cannot share what they think in this country, then our country is going in the wrong direction.”
