Students and activists came together to share, discuss, and learn how to counter the national toll of gun violence. A conversation with diverse representation, it included: March For Our Lives, College Democrats, ACLU, Guns Down America, Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT), DC Mayor Muriel Bowser, medical and legal experts. Panelists discussed trends in impact on populations by race and location, as well as proposing a variety of solutions to limit gun violence. As Senator Murphy put it, “The good news is this country is waking up.”
With this new awareness, the conversation has changed and anti-gun violence groups are seeing massive boosts in activism, fundraising money, and political power. Overall, the conversation was optimistic and hopeful, but panelists concluded that only time will tell what comes of such efforts.
