GU Politics co-hosted Maryland Governor Larry Hogan on October 7 with the Georgetown College Republicans. Gov. Hogan joined GU Politics Executive Director Mo Elleithee in a conversation on bipartisanship and working across the aisle. Gov. Hogan has the second-highest approval ratings out of any current governor, a feat for a Republican serving a predominantly blue state. Hogan discussed his rise to politics and his consistent platform of bipartisanship. Fed up with the divisiveness in politics, Gov. Hogan felt that he should run, and then re-run for governor, in pursuit of reaching effective compromises.
He also spoke to pressing issues such as gerrymandering, his approach to non-partisan redistricting, and working with the National Governors Association to coordinate in solving problems for their constituents.
