The three young dynamic leaders, Pete Buttigieg, Mayor of South Bend, Indiana, Francis Suarez, Mayor of Miami, Florida, and Lydia Mihalik, Mayor of Findlay, Ohio sat down with students to discuss a variety of issues facing urban centers today and answer student questions. Moderated by Sheila Foster, Georgetown Professor of Law and Public Policy, the discussion covered their generation, local politics, issues facing millennials and how their perspectives are changing the ways that cities are being run today.
Mihalik said, “Mayors are really good at sharing passionately and stealing shamelessly.” “What we really need to do is make sure that the region as a whole is better off.” Buttigieg said. And Suarez said, “We don’t look at the world through a partisan lens.”
