Student Town Hall with Nancy Pelosi

On April 24th, 2018, GU Politics hosted House Democratic Leader and Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi for a student-centered town hall.

Ahead of the midterm elections later this fall, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi joined the Georgetown community for a town hall conversation with students about issues that matter to young adults, and her vision: “A Better Deal for America.” Highlighting the point of this event, moderator Mo Elleithee, our Executive Director, said, “Too often in politics we talk about young people, when we should actually be talking with young people.”

Pelosi hit on several notes across issues – including healthcare, higher education costs and loans, foreign policy, and the changing nature of the US economy – attempting to prove that young voters would be doing better with a Democratic Congress in November. To students in the audience and to young people across the country, she said, “You are helping to shape this future. Weigh in. Do not miss this opportunity because right now is probably a bigger opportunity than ever . . . If you don’t vote, you don’t count.”
