The panel featured Dr. Jeff Colyer, of the National Advisory Committee on Rural Health & Human Services and former Governor of Kansas, Dr. Rebecca Katz, Director of Georgetown’s Center for Global Health Science and Security, Ron Klain, Ebola Response Coordinator in the Obama administration, and Tony Sayegh, former Assistant Secretary of Treasury in the Trump administration.
Together with moderator and GU Politics Executive Director Mo Elleithee, the panel looked at the early days of the nation’s response to the health crisis, predicted and advised on best moves going forward, and applied their experience in how the disease would impact other sectors of the US. Sayegh and Colyer, both former GU Politics Fellows, represented a conservative philosophy and positivity under Trump’s efforts so far while Katz and Klain acted as counterweights.
