Now the new home of the nationally recognized “Battleground Poll,” Georgetown University and the Institute of Politics and Public Service presented the most recent findings. This poll is conducted by Republican pollster Ed Goeas of The Tarrance Group and Democratic pollster Celinda Lake of Lake Research Partners. As a national bipartisan survey of voter attitudes, it gauges voters on political opinions and the state of American political civility. Rolling out the first edition of the poll, Goeas stated “As a fellow at Georgetown, I found a perfect environment for a discussion on civility in our politics.”
Initiated in June 1991, the Battleground Polls have gained widespread media recognition as reliable bellwethers of national opinion and voters’ intentions. The Battleground data projected the outcome of the 1992, 1996, and 2004 presidential race more precisely than any other similar effort in the country.
