Cornell Belcher, author of A Black Man in the White House, joined Georgetown students for a discussion moderated by Michele Norris, a Peabody Award-winning journalist. Belcher discussed his book, which focuses on “voter suppression, gerrymandered voting districts, and the attempt to nullify” or diminish the Obama White House. Belcher answered student questions on polling techniques, campaign strategy, and racial politics in modern America.
His polling was the blueprint for the heralded 50-State Strategy, a dramatic change in presidential campaigning that helped lead to President Obama’s historic victories in the Democratic primary and 2008 election.
