HIPPSter Chat with Dan Pfeiffer

On September 10th, 2015, GU Politics hosted Dan Pfeiffer for its inaugural HIPPSter (Hoyas in Politics and Public Service) chat.

HIPPSter events seek to connect our current students with alumni engaged in the political arena, sharing insights and lessons learned on their way. Pfeiffer, most recently a senior advisor to President Obama, has had a winding career through Democratic politics as a campaign staffer starting with Al Gore’s 2000 run. From the beginning, “I loved the adrenaline of the White House and the news cycle…I was hooked, right then and there.” This passion and drive motivated Pfeiffer through the thick and thin of presidential campaigns.

Imparting his main advise to students, he said, “You should pick the job you want now, not the job that will position you for the next job. You will never be great at a job where you are just getting through because it will be a good line on your resume.”
