Title: GU Politics Launches the GU Politics Forum, Hires Rubio Campaign Veteran Martin Sweet

The Institute of Politics and Public Service at Georgetown’s McCourt School of Public Policy is excited to launch the GU Politics Forum, our new speaker and events program.

The Forum will be the new home for all GU Politics speakers and events, including town halls, panels, dialogues and experiential programs.

To lead this program, we are thrilled to welcome Martin Sweet as Director of the GU Politics Forum.

Martin brings a unique blend of practical and academic experience to GU Politics and the Forum. He brings unique experience in national and statewide politics, having served as a senior member of the outreach and field teams on Marco Rubio’s 2016 campaigns for President and Senate.
Martin has also spent time in academia, having taught political science and law at Northwestern University, Florida Atlantic University and Dickinson College, among others.
He is the author of Merely Judgment: Ignoring, Evading, and Trumping the Supreme Court, published by the University of Virginia Press, which examines cases of affirmative action, hate speech, flag burning, school prayer, and legislative vetoes. He received his BS, MA and PhD in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, and his JD from the University of Minnesota Law School.
