Peter Hamby (COL ‘03) is Head of News at Snapchat, running the mobile app’s original news content and coverage of the 2016 presidential campaign.
Prior to joining Snapchat earlier this year, Hamby reported on five election cycles for CNN as a producer and national political reporter, winning multiple awards including an Emmy for his work on the 2012 campaign. Politico named Hamby one of “10 Breakout Political Reporters of 2012,” while Slate dubbed him a “roving scoop machine.”
He remains a CNN contributor, appearing on air to deliver political analysis.
Hamby was a Spring 2013 fellow at Harvard University’s Shorenstein Center on Media, Politic and Public Policy, where he authored “Did Twitter Kill The Boys On The Bus?,” an acclaimed study on the impact of Twitter on media behavior and campaign press strategy during the 2012 presidential race.
Hamby has a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University, and a master’s degree in journalism from New York University.
