Director of Programming, SFS’ 09
Canaan McCaslin is the Director of Programming for the Georgetown Institute of Politics and Public Service. He is responsible for overseeing the Institute’s flagship programming, including the Fellows Program, Forum, Experiential Programming, and Career Programming.
Prior to joining the Institute, he was the campaign manager for Congresswoman Kathy Castor’s re-election campaign in Florida’s 14th Congressional District (Tampa, FL) and worked on Mayor Pete Buttigieg’s presidential campaign in Iowa. Before jumping into the 2020 campaign cycle, Canaan was a public policy and communications professional. He served as the Special Assistant to the County Administrator for Pinellas County Government, where he managed government relations and outreach efforts with federal, state, and local partners, including Pinellas County’s twenty-four cities, four Congressional and Senate Offices, and ten State Legislative members. He previously served as the Associate Vice President of Communications for Lutheran Services Florida (LSF), a statewide human services agency.
Canaan earned a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service with a concentration in Latin American and African Studies from Georgetown University and a master’s degree in Public Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon University.
