Committee: McCourt School Committee, Student Advisory Board

Ruwa was a member of the Fall 2017 Fellows Student Strategy Team for former Congressman Patrick Murphy and currently serves on the McCourt School Committee on the Student Advisory Board. She was born in Amman, Jordan and moved to the United States at the age of 8. For the past 10 years, she has spent her time in Georgia engaging in interfaith and service work with organizations like the Islamic Speakers Bureau as a speaker and as President of Student Government and COEXIST Oglethorpe. Ruwa graduated Cum Laude, after completing an honors thesis, with a Bachelor of Arts in Politics from Oglethorpe University in 2015. She is passionate about politics, civic engagement, and interfaith dialogue and hopes to empower as many people as possible to become more civically engaged. She currently serves as Communications Director for the Council on American Islamic Relations Georgia Chapter (CAIR Georgia) and was Field Organizer for the Georgia Muslim Voter Project.
