GU Politics Unveils Conventions Opportunities for Students
Partners with Political Parties and Top Media Outlets on Access
for Georgetown Hoyas
July 14, 2016– The Institute of Politics and Public Service (GU Politics) at Georgetown’s McCourt School of Public Policy is proud to partner with the Republican National Convention, the Democratic National Convention, CNN and POLITICO to bring the 2016 political conventions to life for Georgetown undergraduate and graduate students.

Twenty Georgetown students will travel to Cleveland, Ohio and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania as part of the GU Politics “Convention Ambassadors” program for a behind-the-scenes look at the party nomination process.

Some of the Georgetown Convention Ambassadors will work directly with the Republican National Convention and Democratic National Convention staffs, as well as POLITICO.
On the first day of each convention, CNN and GU Politics will partner to host college students from across the country in the CNN Grill, testing their knowledge of political trivia against teams of CNN journalists and some of the top political operatives and officials in the country.

“The 2016 presidential conventions will be anything but conventional,” said Mo Elleithee (SFS ‘94), executive director of GU Politics. “We are psyched to provide this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Hoyas and can’t wait to hit the road to Cleveland and Philly.”

The students will cover both conventions through social media and video. Follow their journey and join in the conversation on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat with #HoyasAtRNC and #HoyasAtDNC.
