WHAT: The Georgetown Institute of Politics and Public Service (GU Politics) at the McCourt School of Public Policy will host a series of virtual events next week examining how the COVID-19 crisis is impacting politics and public life.
On Monday (4/20) and Wednesday (4/22), GU Politics will host Democratic National Committee Chair Tom Perez and Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel for individual discussions and Q&A with students, moderated by GU Politics Executive Director Mo Elleithee. This two-night “Chat with the Chairs” will be coupled with an appearance on Tuesday (4/21) from Fox News Sunday’s Chris Wallace, who will join students for a discussion on the role of journalism during a global crisis.

Now that the primary season is over and the stage is set for the 2020 general election, GU Politics is bringing both party chairs to the #GUVirtualForum stage for a candid conversation on the race for the White House, what’s a stake for each party, their views on campaigning during a national pandemic. Perez and McDaniel will share their perspective on how the major political parties are approaching the 2020 election in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis, and how they are working to preserve election integrity during this unprecedented time.
