Government’s Role In Health Care

ICC Auditorium, 6:45pm - 8:00pm

RSVP

On Wednesday, November 13th, GU Politics and Georgetown University College Republicans (GUCR) hosted a conversation with Seema Verma, Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and GU Politics Fellow and Former Governor of Kansas Jeff Colyer, moderated by McCourt School Dean Maria Cancian. The speakers discussed the role of government in healthcare and how CMS is operating under the current administration to make healthcare more affordable. Verma and Colyer spoke about their beliefs in the power of a free market economy to create a better healthcare system and address parts of current government policies that aren’t serving Americans well. Between the changing expectations of the public and the role the healthcare debate is playing in current 2020 campaigns, Verma’s visit came at a great time to inform and inspire Georgetown students.
