The Institute of Politics and Public Service (GU Politics) at Georgetown’s McCourt School of Public Policy will host Congressman Joe Kennedy (D-MA) for a discussion entitled, The Health of our Democracy. The event will take place on Tuesday, November 13th at 7:30 PM in Copley Formal Lounge on Georgetown’s main campus, and is co-sponsored by the Georgetown University College Democrats.
In a conversation moderated by Mo Elleithee, Executive Director of GU Politics, Congressman Kennedy will speak about a wide range of health care topics, including mental health, opioids, childhood access, Obamacare, and Medicaid/Medicare, and the health of our democracy. From bipartisanship to impeachment, Congressman Kennedy will take questions from the Georgetown community on some of the greatest challenges facing our political system today.
Kennedy was first elected to the United States House of Representatives in 2012, and was recently re-elected to his fourth term in Congress. Kennedy sits on the U.S. House Committee on Energy and Commerce. He is a graduate of Stanford University and Harvard Law School. Congressman Kennedy is the grandson of Robert F. Kennedy. He and his wife, Lauren, have two children, Ellie and James.
