Are you the next C.J. Cregg? Do you dream about being a press secretary, running communications for a political campaign or making political ads? Do you want a taste of what it’s really like to work in political communications? Do you want to get a leg up on an internship or are you thinking about applying to work on a campaign in 2020? If you answered yes to any of these questions, this unique cohort workshop is for you!

Communications makes or breaks a political campaign. When it comes to political communication, it is most important to make your point from the beginning. Time is a valuable resource in the campaign world, which means that it is tough to get people to spend theirs on you. Effective political communication keeps it simple, focused, and prioritizes the reader.

Join GU Politics for a five-part workshop that will cover every aspect of political communications for campaigns. Led by Lauren Zelt, a Republican strategist who has served on several campaigns in communications, including as the former Deputy Communications Director and Press Secretary for U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte, the advisor and spokesman to the New Hampshire Republican State Committee, and the Director of Media Affairs for Mitt Romney for President, students will be part of a cohort group that meets throughout the semester to learn the ins and outs of political communications.

Space is limited and students will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Sessions will run Monday evenings, from the week of October 10th-November 5th, from 6:30PM-8:00PM in the GU Politics Office in Healy G-18. Students must be able to commit to all five sessions, as they build upon each other. No outside work is required.

Dates:
– Thursday, October 11th
– Monday, October 15th
– Monday, October 22nd
– Monday, October 29th
– Monday, November 5th
